At a crowded Gold Finch Hotel on Thursday evening the 2015 ‘Appaji Souharda Award’ was presented to veteran director KSL Swamee and veteran actor Dr Srinath. The mellifluous singer S Janaki was not present to receive the honor because she was busy on her birthday celebration in Chennai.

Rs.1 lakh, trophy, garland and shawl were presented by Smt Parvathamma Rajakumar, Shivarajakumar, Raghavendra Rajakumar and Puneeth Rajakumar.

The annual award event of ‘Appaji Souharda Award’ in the name of Dr Rajakumar started off with invocation song Vara Banthamma Guru Vara Banthamma…song from Raghavendra Rajakumar.

RAVIYANNA – DOWN MEMORY LANE!


When veterans take the mike they speak a lot. It is OK. We want the past to know. What’s wrong in person like KSL Swamee – Raviyanna speaks. He speaks sense and not go out of control.

It happened like that on Appaji Souharda Award evening. For ‘Souhardate’ Rajanna is fine example. He never stalled work for personal reasons. Raviyanna quoted the days of ‘Krishna Rukmini Sathyabhama’. It was eight mask shot for Dr Rajakumar. Raj asked Raviyanna what time shoot come to end. It has to be completed today itself told Raviyanna. When Raj is asking for permission Raviyanna became alert. He went to studio owner to keep the things as it is and shoot to commence next day. When permission was granted Raviyanna told Rajakumar and team pack up for the day. Raj went straight and he finished his commitment.

What is that commitment? Raviyanna ascertained after long gap of time with Parvathamma. Rajakumar wanted to take Parvathamma to a film that was last show on that day in a particular theatre.  In another occasion Raj wanted to go because Vajramuni call sheet is available for the producer. Raj taking part in shoot of Vajramuni was essential because of his affection. Another incident of Raj and Parvathamma going to get slippers for Parvathamma with one umbrella on rainy evening also came to memory of Raviyanna.

SRINATH EMOTIONAL REMEMBERING RAJ


Dr Srinath lifted his two hands collecting tears and said what a lovely ‘Sahane’ – three sons of Rajanna has with them. Emotional Srinath was also in his good flash back mood and how Dr Raj told him to wait for six months. I waited for six months instead of going to a job. In that time ‘Shubhamangala’ happened. That was great turning point in life. It was Raj who told me ‘Aase Iddaga Niraase Irbardu’.

When Srinath was busy for two months he went after ‘Shubamangala’ released and got a few tips from Rajanna that he kept up in his cinema career.

It was ‘Lagna Patrike’ my first film with Rajanna and it was directed Raviyanna. Today I am receiving this honor with Raviyanna is my fortune stated Dr Srinath.
